Introduction
If there’s one thing that Seoul is known for, it is themed cafe’s. This is the city where you’ll find everything from the classic dog and cat cafe’s to sheep and poop cafe’s. Today, we’re gonna talk about the bunny cafe in Hongdae, Seoul.
The Venue
The bunny cafe is located in the Hongdae area of Seoul, which is famous as a student neighbourhood with a mostly a young crowd and activities 24/7. Outside the cafe, there’s a vending machine and a garden where you can sit on bunny chairs and have a snack. This is, however not a cafe in the traditional sense, you don’t go here for good coffee and pastries. You won’t find that here, this is a place you go to for quality time with bunnies. The place is decorated in pink and has a subtle Alice in Wonderland theme. The staff was very sweet and helpful during our visit. The bunny area of the cafe is divided in two sections for people to sit in and hang out with the bunnies.
Price
30 minutes with the bunnies cost 5000 won (around 5 USD), an hour 8000 won and a small basket of leaves and veggies for the bunnies was 2000 won. The bunnies won’t really pay attention to you unless you have this, so make sure to buy the treat basket. Personally, I thought 30 minutes with the bunnies was enough. The bunnies are not litter trained and will start pooping and peeing around that time as well.
Rules
You can only stroke or pet the rabbits, not carry them. You are required to change into sandals, wear an apron, wash your hands and lock your belongings in a locker. All of the bunnies have their names and personalities presented outside their cages, and you get to pick which bunny you want to hang out with. Of course it’s more fun if you’re a group as you get to play with each other’s bunnies as well. You get a pillow to sit on, and after that it’s showtime!
The Experience
The rabbits are very cute and run around chasing each other a lot, but they do get along really well and it’s fun to see them interact. If you buy the treat basket, they will be more interested in you and you’ll get to interact with them more.
