In my constant search for food and dessert adventures around the globe, I’ve amassed quite the food bucket list by using the option to save posts on Instagram. As you’ll see, this covers far more desserts and brunches than actual food, but this really wouldn’t be authentic to my preferences if it was dominated by food.
When planning my vacation in New York last summer, I spent a lot of time looking for food places there. I found quite a bit more than I had time to visit, so here are a few that I wish I had made it to. Above, we have Squish Marshmallows, focusing on Marshmallow treats in East Village. To the right we have Mt Kisco Diner, a classic diner in the NY suburbs. This would suit anyone with a sweet tooth. Their Instagram page is amazing. I highly recommend checking this place out even though I haven’t made it there myself yet.
Tonchin Ramen Restaurant in Koreatown and NISI Estiatorio Greek Restaurat in Greenwich Village are two other options for dessert and brunch.
Chip New York in Chelsea and Hi-Collar Japanese Pancakes in East Village for chocolate chip cookies and Japanese pancakes.
Il Corallo Trattoria (this is actually a restaurant) for beautiful desserts, Dominique Ansel Bakery in the West Village for melon ice cream, and the Ainsworth in Chelsea for a Mac N Cheese Burger.
I made an attempt at visiting While We Were Young in New York this summer, but the line was endless, so I’m hoping for better luck next time. I rarely stand in line for food when I’m traveling as I think it’s a waste of time. Usually I have so many food places that I’ve looked up beforehand, so if one is too full, it’s fairly easy to go to another place nearby.
If I only got to choose one city in the world as my favourite, it would be Los Angeles. The weather is beautiful, the city is big yet roomy, the nature is stunning and the sunsets are amazing. The food is rather remarkable too, and there are so many places that I want to visit in this city. Neck of the woods in Brentwood would be your typical Instagram brunch place with Avocado’s on toast, bowls and pancakes. Like every other twenty-something person on this planet, I am a sucker for these venues. Their food looks stunning and they present it beautifully. Dominique Ansel Bakery is a place that I’ve tried to visit in NY and London the past, but for various reasons never made it. They have a location at The Grove in L.A. as well, and I’d be very happy to visit. If there’s one thing Souther California is good at, it’s Mexican Food. Tacos N Miches in Whittier looks perfect for a taco. They look beautiful as well, I’d be very happy to drop by here for a taco when given the chance.
Other places that I’d love to try are these two brunch places. I love pancakes and the fluffy Japanese person at Ganache Patisserie & Cafe by Nicol in Monterey Park doesn’t look bad. The classic American blueberry and whipped cream pancakes a CiCi’s in Tarzana look rather incredible as well.
Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Alhambra looks absolutely food goals. Hawaiian BBQ is something that I’ve wanted to try for a long time.
The Parrot is a fairly new bar in London, that’s really good at presenting cocktails in unique and beautiful ways. The place doesn’t have that many reviews yet, but so far they are all good. Mud is a cafe that I really wanted to visit while in London, unfortunately it’s located quite off, which made it too time consuming to visit during my recent trip. Dominique Ansel Bakery has a location in London (their afternoon tea seems amazing) as well, and due to lack of time, I never made it there. I am hoping to visit one of their locations soon though.
The Breakfast Club has plenty of locations in London and it seems like a city classic. Unfortunately, I never made it there but I hope to go in the future. A pie party at Victoria Park Market doesn’t look bad either. I love visiting food halls and markets in different cities. I’d be more than happy to grab this treat at the market and enjoy it in a park nearby in the springtime.
People who know me, know that Tokyo and Japan has been my number one dream destination for years. Once I go, I really want to visit The Ritz in Tokyo for Afternoon Tea, and Reissue for the most beautiful latte art I’ll probably ever see.
Australia has always been a dream destination of mine. Although I don’t have any absolute plats on when I am going to visit, I’ve already found some food places in Sydney that I want to try. Cuppa Flower to the left looks absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to visit.
Since I lived in Toronto, I’ve followed blogto, which focuses on food in Toronto. They upload stunning photos and videos from food around the city, and each one makes me want to go back there. This waffle place with Eggs Benedict savoury waffles seems like the perfect place for me. I definitely want to go back to Toronto at some point, as it is a great city, especially for food.
So that’s it, the places I added to my food bucket list in 2019. The full bucket list is extremely long. I haven’t really written it down, but there are so many places around the world that I want to visit for food.
