New York City is a dream when it comes to treats. There is nothing you can’t find here. When I was there, I tried out a lot of places to satisfy my sweet tooth, Today, I am sharing my favorites.
Most famous for their frozen hot chocolate, Serendipity 3 is a must when visiting NYC. Think of the Frozen Hot Chocolate as a soft and sweet hot chocolate, but instead it is completely ice cold. It comes in many different versions, but I went for the classic one. It is perfect for sharing between two people.
I had a great time at the cafe, the servers took good care of us and were knowledgeable about their dishes as well as the merchandise at the gift shop. The only thing I didn’t enjoy that much was their BLT Sandwich. Although the quality was good, I didn’t like having to put it together myself, and it was simply too big and heavy. Especially when you’re having the frozen hot chocolate as well.
If there is one thing I miss from my time in Korea, it is Patbingsu, or Korean Shaved Ice. Since NYC has everything, they have a few places for this as well. During my trip, I visited two of these. The ice cream to the left is from Sweet Moment, located in Chinatown. They have several versions of this lovely dessert, and it comes in many different sizes.
The other place I went to was Snowdays (pictured to the right). They were located in West Village/ Greenwich Village and had a lot of fun varieties of the shaved ice as well. The watermelon one that we had was perfect to share between two people. It was definitely among the best Korean shaved ice’s I’ve ever had. When we were there, there was also a cute dog who had neutral shaved ice as a little treat to cool off in the hot August weather.
Although it isn’t exactly unique to NYC, IHOP turned out to be one of my true favourites on my most recent trip. Their wide selection, affordability and overall classic American diner feeling is hard to beat, and there are no places like this in Europe. I love it here.
