If there is one thing you shouldn’t miss when visiting the Amalfi Coast, it is to embrace the lemon theme and indulge in all the treats. I can assure you that even if lemon isn’t your favorite thing, you will find a new appreciation for it. It will also hold a special place in your heart and remind you of the good times on the Amalfi Coast for years to come.
Walking around in the garden
Or I Giardini Di Cataldo as the Italians say it, is where to go for the most authentic lemon experience in Sorrento. This citrus orchard started out as a family business, producing goods exclusively for the customers of the nearby Excelsior Vittoria Hotel. It is devoted to the production of liqueurs (such as the famous limoncello), marmalades and gelato.
Giant lemons
They offer guided tours of the grounds, and they also have apartments which you can rent for your next holiday. Who wouldn’t want to wake up in a citrus orchard?
Lush areas of greenery
The staff is very friendly. They are generous with the samples (as always in Sorrento), and are also more than happy to share their expertise and guide you through the factory and gardens.
We came when the garden had closed for the day, but they let us in anyway and we could stay for as long as we wanted. We got the lemon garden all to ourselves and there was not a single soul around. It was such a beautiful and peaceful experience. It was also a lovely way to connect with nature and one of the main symbols of the Amalfi Coast.
Lemon tree
If you search on Google Maps, you’ll only find the lemon garden and shop, but they also have a bar, at nearby Piazza Angelina Lauro. This is probably one of the best hidden gems of Sorrento, as it’s quite off the beaten path. If you can’t find it, I recommend visiting the Lemon Garden and ask for directions, they will be more than happy to help. I highly recommend you to visit when in Sorrento!
Orange and Limoncello Spritz at the bar.
The Bar offers plenty of sweet lemon treats, but their versions of the classic Aperol Spritz are magical. They even have frozen slush versions that are perfect for the warm Italian summer days.
This isn’t the biggest place, but it was pretty empty when we came in. The staff was very kind and helpful, and prices were surprisingly low, both in general and in relation to quality. This was definitely a top treat in Sorrento, and I highly recommend it for an Aperol Spritz with a twist.
If you can’t get enough of their citrus treats, or haven’t visited but are curious to try out their products, I recommend ordering from their online shop. That way, you can bring a piece of the Amalfi Coast home.
The beautiful orchard

Hi and welcome to my travel guide! My name is Beatrice. I’m a lawyer in my twenties living in Stockholm, Sweden. I started Foodie on Vacay because I travel quite a bit, and my trips are always centered around having great food experiences.
