A celebration visit to The Dorchester Hotel in London

In London, my boyfriend and I went to Dorchester to celebrate me finally purchasing my dream bag that I’ve been lusting over for 5+ years.

THE COCKTAIL – HIBISCUS ROYALE

A delicately perfumed cocktail with vodka, peach and rose liqueur, cranberry juice and hibiscus syrup, topped with champagne. Served in a high, fancy champagne glass, this cocktail looks and feels a bit royal. It was well balanced and sweet, but not overly sweet. The taste was exciting, and the drink was beautifully garnished. We received a good selection of snacks to go with the drinks, which were refilled during our about 1,5-2 hour visit. Overall, I was positively surprised by the cocktail, and I am more than happy to come back to the Dorchester to try more of the cocktails on the menu.

THE CHEESE PLATTER

It took us about 30 minutes from ordering this cheese platter to actually receiving it.  Once we got it, I was surprised by how nicely it was arranged, and I could see that they’d put in quite the effort in making it look good for us. Now, I am no cheese connoisseur, but I enjoyed the top three cheeses more than the ones at the bottom, and I liked the truffle honey dip and snacks that came with it. One of the top cheeses had a parmesan touch to it, and that was probably my favourite.  None of these cheeses were too strong or too heavy, which I really appreciated.

THE VENUE

Known as one of the most luxurious and opulent hotels in London, and a favourite with the Kardashian family, the Dorchester is definitely a destination you should find an excuse to visit when in London. I’ve been wanting to visit for years for Afternoon Tea, but since we already had reservations somewhere else for that, we tried out the bar instead, as we had a cause for celebration.

We were immediately seated by a kind and quite funny waiter who helped us not only with cocktails  and cheese, but also with charging our phones and giving directions. The service was great from beginning to end, and the staff didn’t seem overly stressed either. They had a large assortment of cocktails, and many of them seemed sweet and fresh rather than strong and bitter, which I really liked. The hotel itself is stunning, especially with all the Christmas decorations. I highly recommend going in and taking a look it. Overall, we had a great experience, and I’m planning to come back for Afternoon Tea in the future.

RATING:5

Overall, we had a great time celebrating at the Dorchester, and I was ecstatic about my recent handbag purchase. Let me know if you’d like to see a separate post about my shopping experience, the bag and how I changed my mindset from thinking it was too expensive to actually making the purchase.

I would also love to know if you have any favourite bars in London that I should visit in the future!
