Food recommendations in Stockholm: Restaurant Portofino

Located on a calm little street in Stockholm’s historic old town, this little gem has quickly risen on the TripAdvisor lists. The venue is modern yet elegant, the staff is attentive and takes great care of you. They also have great sense of humor. The food and drinks are beautifully presented and taste amazing as well. I’d make a reservation today if I were you.

Starters

As we entered the restaurant, the staff instantly welcomed us and let us choose freely among all the tables for two inside. For starters, we shared a fantastic bruschetta and treated ourselves to a cocktail. They had a great selection, and cocktails were well-made and beautifully presented.

Main course and dessert

For the main dish, we went for the classic mushroom truffle pasta. You can never go wrong with a classic like this, and it can taste really different depending on which restaurant you go to.

I was way too full to order dessert, but I still had my eyes on the panna cotta which seemed to good for me to skip. I ordered it, and it was great, but it is larger than it looks and felt really heavy after all the other food. I couldn’t manage to finish it all, but I really enjoyed t.

Overall experience

Overall, it was a great visit. Portion sizes were good, the staff was great and the food was great as well. The only thing that was a little strange was that the venue didn’t feel particularly Italian. It had a classic modern vibe, which didn’t really match with the Italian dishes that were served. That is, however a very small complaint in relation to all the things I enjoyed about this place. I can highly recommend coming here, and I would not hesitate to go back.
